Great Gatsby Bridal Open House

If you ever head down to the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria, you will have no doubt noticed the large, two story Cherry Blossom boat. White with yellow trim, and a big old style turn paddle on the back, it would be hard to miss. I always thought it would be fun to tour the boat, or attend an event on it. My good friend Nic told me that his school hosted a dance on it when he was in high school. Seeing that I am a little too old for prom, my chance to board the Cherry Blossom would just have to wait.

Enter my dear friend Cassie. I could write an entire blog entry about this AMAZING person, but in regards to the Cherry Blossom boat, I have Cassie to thank. She knew the event coordinator for the Potomac Riverboat Company, which owns and operates the Cherry Blossom boat, along with several other vessel. Through them, I have captured a pirate cruise, as well as two Halloween canine cruises. However, none of these were on the Cherry Blossom.  

Throughout the year, the Potomac Riverboat Company hosts different open houses for couples looking to host their wedding aboard the Cherry Blossom. The theme this time was “The Great Gatsby.” I received an email inquiring if I would be interested in capturing the details of the day. Of course I would be! Now, by this time I had gotten to photograph an open house on the Cherry Blossom boat, so I suppose I didn’t set that up quite right. (Oops!) This would be my second time aboard the boat. Come to think of it, I think the second time around is better anyways. The first time for most things, I’m so overwhelmed that I don’t notice the beautiful, small details. This time was no different. I met and mingled with the different vendors (all are fantastic, btw!), swapped business cards (oooh, feeling official!) and captured some beautiful shots of what a wedding (your wedding?!) might look like about the Cherry Blossom boat in Alexandria.
